2016 was a great year in our world. We met a lot of our personal and business goals (not all of them, of course, because, life) and we had a steady stream of sessions and weddings that kept us on our toes in the best of ways. We are finally getting the hang of scheduling time off (and by we, I mean me, Lindsay) and we had plenty of time to live our own lives in addition to documenting some amazingly wonderful ones. I know I say it every year, but we are truly blessed by our clients – being able to call them friends and being able to provide them with important moments frozen in time is truly a remarkable honor.
From churches to fields, golf courses to barns, rustic to elegant; we loved each wedding in a way that was unique to our very special couples. Our assistant Sara was an amazing help as usual, and even as we got to document her wedding this year, we are proud of how she has grown into her own as a new wife, employee and photographer. She is a calm reassurance, a quiet but steady hand when we need it, and a constant encourager. Some of the images you have seen and will see below are hers. We’ve dubbed her “queen of the details” and she’s earned her crown.
Overall, I’m just bursting at the seams at the relationships we have cultivated and the images we have created. Working with your spouse is amazing and fun but can also be challenging and stressful (and I’m mainly talking about how hard it must be for Brandon to put up with me, lol). The way Brandon carries this business makes my heart swell and I’m forever grateful for his multitude of talent, his endless patience, his creative mind, and his ability to do almost all of it in a way that doesn’t care if he gets credit for it. His days consist of editing, fixing computer problems, more editing, backing images up, charging batteries and packing for shoots, running all the software systems, uploading galleries, designing albums, more editing, calibrating monitors, sending quotes and contracts, more editing, and anything else that needs to be done.
We look forward to 2017 as we already have several amazing couples on the books. If you’ve made it this far with us, THANK YOU. You are one of the reasons for our success. You are one of the reasons we do what we do. You are the audience we speak to. So, thank you from the bottom of our hearts, once again, for your support. Now, onto the show…
The shot I nearly fell out of a tree for…One of my favorite moments of every wedding day…
And as per tradition, here’s some favorite BEHIND THE SCENES action…
Can you spot Brandon?
And I always wonder why my back hurts after sessions…This is trust. They walked a LONG way with Brandon teasing him every step to combat the nervousness before the first look..
I look ridiculous but it’s too cute of everyone else not to share…Brandon for the assist…
And setting up those first looks …
If it’s raining, you get the awning, we’ll get wet.
We have known Sara for almost 10 years. She started assisting us 5 years ago, and we were honored to shoot her wedding this year!
We use cell phones every now and then. Just make sure it’s an iphone or we are lost…
Light testing for this very light-directional ceremony location…
When your partner sees that you have a better angle and tries to wiggle in on the action… I won’t tell you which of us did that.
Notice who has the camera here…
Every couple: “um, yeah, how are we supposed to do this?” (They should give lessons on these things!)
The famous creeper shots…
Up high and down low… anything for the perfect composition…
Cutest little guest, wanted me to run and spin with her…
Brandon’s hilarious… (or so he thinks)
September 3 was Whitney and Josh’s wedding day, which was also Megan and Clayton’s 5 year anniversary. We shot both weddings and feel like part of the family <3
Within a span of less than 2 years, Katie, Claire and CJ all became wives (with me and Brandon behind the camera witnessing it all).
Gotta have a shot with my Hendersonville brides!
And that’s a wrap folks! We had a great year and are so thankful for it. We are already halfway full for 2017 and it’s not even February yet. We’ve got a big to-do list before the shooting starts, but in the meantime I’ve got a few blog posts that have been on the back-burner and I can’t wait to have time to share them with you! See y’all soon!
